Look for the zone that lets you play direct. On a 39-foot pattern a straight game can stay just inside the dry and feed the pocket without much hook. Keep your speed steady and your misses small.
Find the middle ground. These lengths punish extremes, so avoid getting too far outside or too deep. A moderate angle with a controlled ball reads best.
Mind the hang spot. A 39-foot pattern can hang the ball out right if you swing too early, or leave you short of hold if you go too deep. Control your breakpoint and let the ball finish.
